We can select and bid for a yearling at either of the two major sales in New Zealand, negotiate the purchase of horses from the "Ready to Run" sale or organise private sales.

We are recognised for the patience, care and attention in the training of youngstock, and will pre-train your yearling prior to moving it on to the trainer of your choice. We are also able to wean your foal and and prepare it for the annual sales.

Our success rate over the years has been most satisfactory with the horses we have handled. We have concentrated mostly on the square gaiter, which we find a greater challenge and a more rewarding experience to see them trotting well and winning races. The likes of Canny's Image, High Miss, Rick Evander, Hanover the Gold, Earl Whitesock and Im a Nauti Boy spring to mind and bring back fond memories of the occasions.

Here at Alpha Lodge we train horses who, simply put, excel - whether that be in the show ring or as dependable family driving horses. We are recognized and licensed trainers, and horses trained or shown by us have taken many top honors including multiple National Grand Champion titles, multiple Regional titles and High Point Harness Horse of the Year awards. With over 40 years experience in training harness horses professionally, both big and small, we are secure in the knowledge that we can deliver the best possible start for your future champion. Each horse sent to us receives the very best of care, and we have an open door policy for the owners of the horses so they may visit whenever they choose. You will be kept up to date on your horses progress, and once he/she has completed training, we are readily available to offer advice and help on furthering your horses education as well as providing you with the necessary skills to do so. Limited spaces available for training, booking essential. Driving lessons also available - with your horse or ours.

Since 1985 Margaret Lloyd has developed a substantial catering operation, which included, for a period of 6 years, the acquisition, business development and sale of a 250 seat function lounge. Margarets current clients include many Masonic Lodges, sports groups, corporates, the Northern Force and New Zealand Silver Ferns netball teams as well as the function catering for Massey University (Albany campus).
